 NC holding office-bearers’ meeting today

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) which has a pivotal role in power-sharing is holding an office-bearers’ meeting on Thursday.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called the office-bearers’ meeting after Chairman duo of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday met with him and proposed for a power-sharing.

Deuba in a meeting with Dahal and Nepal said that he would answer following discussions in the party.

NC has been in a pivotal role in the power-equation after the Supreme Court issued the verdict in favor of the reinstatement of the House of Representatives (HoR).

Both the NCP factions are trying to curry favor with the NC as the next government is dependent on it.

Out of 275 lawmakers in the HoR, NC has 63, the Prachanda-Nepal faction has 90 out of 174 NCP lawmakers while Janata Samajwadi Party has 34 lawmakers.

A total of 138 lawmakers’ support is required to become the prime minister.
