Health workers being trained today to vaccinate against coronavirus



KATHMANDU: Over 600 health workers across the country are being trained Monday for the nationwide vaccination campaign against coronavirus starting from Wednesday.

According to the Family Welfare Division under the Health Services Department, the health workers are being trained on vaccination.

As many as 200 health workers from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur will be physically present and receive the training. More than 400 health workers from the remaining 74 districts will be trained through the virtual method.

Training is being conducted at Vegan Villa in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, Patan Hospital in Lalitpur and Nepal Korea Friendly Hospital in Bhaktapur.

The vaccination training is being conducted by the District Health Office Chief, Vaccine Focal Person, Cold chain Officers and District Hospital Chief.

Similarly, the heads of health directorates of all the seven states and the cold chain officials of the states are also participating in the training.

Those who receive the first dose of the vaccine, which needs to be given twice, will receive the second dose after 28 days.

The Ministry of Health and Population has already prepared a list of 430,000 frontline health workers and other high-risk workers to be vaccinated.

Among them, as many as 2,25,782 are health workers and others are sanitation workers, ambulance drivers, hearse drivers, women’s health volunteers and frontline security personnel.
