NC condemns MBBS fee hike

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress(NC) has hit out at the increase in MBBS fees by the Medical Education Commission.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Secretary of NC’s Education Department Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel has condemned the medical commission’s decision to increase the fees.

The Commission has hiked the medical education fees by Rs 800,000 compared to last year. Last year the fee for MBBS was only Rs 4,023,250.

“This decision is contrary to the spirit of the agreement reached between the Oli government and Dr. Govinda KC,” Poudel has said in the statement.

A meeting of the department chaired by Hari Prasad Nepal, Central Committee Member of NC and head of the department, has demanded that the government immediately refund the arbitrarily hiked fees and maintain the old MBBS fees again.
