Nepal-India security officials meet in Pithoragarh

To keep close tabs on dual citizenship



KATHMANDU: Security officials from Nepal and India have held a consultative meeting at Jauljibi in Pithoragarh of India on Thursday.

The security officials from both the countries dwelled on the security issues including border crimes and possible measures to curb them.

The meeting discussed seven agendas – verifying identity cards of Nepal-India entrants, coordinating between the two security forces while opening cross border bridge, carrying out COVID-19 tests on those crossing the suspension bridges, timely completion of the under-construction suspension bridge connecting Nepal and India among others.

The meeting also reached an agreement on exchanging information on controlling smuggling, drug trading and trafficking in persons in the cross-border points and keeping close tabs on those who have dual citizenships.
