Relief package for flood-affected people to be announced soon: PM Deuba

INARUWA: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said a relief package would be brought at the soonest targeting the people affected by flood.

Addressing a program organized at the No 1 Baraha Brigade Headquarters of the Armed Police Force Nepal at Pakali, Sunsari on Sunday after making an inspection from a helicopter of the flood-affected areas in the district, he expressed grief over the big loss of life and property resulting from flood and landslide following torrential rain few days ago in Sudurpaschim and Province 1.

He said he would take a decision regarding the relief package soon after returning to Kathmandu.

Stating that the disasters occur without forewarning, he said the latest rain-induced disaster however caused heavy damage to life and property and a relief package would be brought at the earliest.

The present government has already announced some relief package for the disaster-ht people and the remaining relief would be brought at the earliest after returning to Kathmandu.

It is the need of the hour for the incumbent government to manage rescue, relief distribution and accommodation for the flood and landslide victims, he said.

He said that the government would announce relief packages soon for the victims.
