Protest held calling to repeal Madrasa education bill in Saptari of Province 2

KATHMANDU: The ‘Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan’ (National Unity Campaign) has staged a protest against Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut, calling to repeal the Madrasa Education Bill, in Saptari district of the province Tuesday.

A team led by the campaign’s Saptari district Coordinator Shiva Shankar Shastri burnt the idol of CM Raut at Rajbiraj, the district headquarters.

The protest rally organized by the campaign traversed through the market areas of Rajbiraj to reach Sahid Chowk and turned into a corner meeting. At the rally, protesters chanted slogans calling to revoke the Madrasa bill.

The campaign’s Vice Chair Sunita Sah at the protest demanded prompt resignation of CM Raut, alleging that he was trying to turn the Province 2 into Taliban. She said, “CM Raut is attempting to turn the province into Taliban by introducing the Madrasa Education Bill.”

Similarly, Coordinator Shastri accused the CM Raut of working as an agent of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Campaigners Bindu Thakur, Sunil Yadav, Deepesh Joshi and others were present in the protest program.
