JSP Yadav faction holds Executive Committee meeting in Balkumari

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Executive Committee of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)’s Upendra Yadav faction is being held in the party’s office in Balkumari Saturday afternoon.

Executive Committee member Istiyaq Rai said the meeting would dwell on current political issues, endorsement of JSP parliamentary party statute, formation of election committee to elect office-bearers of the parliamentary party, the ongoing case of legitimacy of the faction in the Election Commission, among others.

The Election Commission asked Executive Committee members of the party to appear before it on July 26 for verification to settle the authenticity between the JSP rival factions.

The party had registered a total of 51-member Executive Committee as its central committee with the Election Commission when the JSP was formed by merger of erstwhile Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) and Samajbadi Party (SP).

Meanwhile, JSP rival faction led by Chairman Mahantha Thakur moved the Supreme Court to revoke Election Commission’s summon and earlier picked leader Rajendra Mahato as leader of JSP parliamentary party.
