Adequate budget to health sector: CM Nepali

KASKI: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Nepali has vowed an adequate supply of COVID-19 vaccines in the province.

Addressing a program where the annual budget of Pokhara Metropolitan City was released today, CM Pokhrel made it clear that an adequate budget would be ensured to address the need for anti- COVID vaccine.

He, however, said, “Strong coordination among three layers of government is must control and prevent coronavirus. Province government is mulling whether it could procure vaccine from the private sector.”

According to him, the local level, which is the foundation of federalism, should be strengthened and empowered. For this to happen, both the federal and provincial governments have a role. Democracy could be consolidated with institutional development at the local level.

Moreover, CM Nepali viewed common understanding among all governments as essential to effectively implement the concurrent powers of three layers of government.

Further collaboration and cooperation is needed among local level and province government for the development works and revenue generation, he stressed.

He said the provincial government was expecting cooperation from Pokhara Metropolis in the plan and policy to control COVID-19 and the management of survivors of natural disasters.

Some areas of cooperation are the construction of Korala corridor, and roadways in Pokhara and Triveni.

At the program, Deputy Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Manju Devi Gurung, unveiled the budget of Rs 6.27 billion for the fiscal year 2078/79 BS. RSS
