MFD predicts heavy rains, warns of flood risks

KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has urged people to take precautions warning that the floods might occur in various places in the country due to monsoon.

According to MFD, the level of water may surge in the Koshi River due to heavy precipitation today. Similarly, floods are likely to occur in the Kamal River, Bagmati, Paschim Rapti, and Babai due to rainfall in the tributaries of these rivers.

Rains have been forecast in Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Dhading, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Sindhuli, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung and Manang today.

Similarly, rains have also been forecast in Kapilvastu, Rukum East, Rolpa, Dang, Banke, Bardiya of Lumbini Pradesh and Salyan and Rukum of Karnali Pradesh, triggering floods in the rivers originating from these places.
