UML Standing Committee meet underway in Baluwatar



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Standing Committee (SC) of the CPN-UML is underway in Baluwatar Monday evening.

The SC meeting is mulling over actions to be taken against rebel lawmakers, close to leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who backed Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba for the Prime Ministerial post, according to sources.

The SC meeting held Saturday had decided to seek clarification from 14 leaders, including Nepal. Leaders of the Nepal faction have refused to furnish clarification. The deadline ended Monday morning.

The SC meeting is also mulling over action against 23 lawmakers who signed the petition calling for making Deuba PM at the Supreme Court earlier in the day.

Likewise, other issues of the party and preparations for the mid-term elections is also being discussed.
