UML’s disgruntled faction ready to face action rather than submitting explanation

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML’s disgruntled Nepal-Khanal faction has decided to face action if it comes rather than submitting explanation letter to Chairman KP Oli faction.

A meeting of the leaders close to UML senior leaders former Prime Ministers duo Jhala Nath  Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal held at Singha Durbar on Monday, decided to face the action rather than offering explanation to the arbitrary leadership of the party.

Earlier, UML Standing Committee had sought clarification from 11 lawmakers, including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, accusing them of supporting the opposition alliance.

UML chairperson Oli has called a meeting of the standing committee at 4 pm on Monday to take further decision on the leaders.

In the meantime, 23 lawmakers of the CPN-UML have signed a writ petition seeking to make NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba the prime minister reinstating the House of Representatives.

Earlier, a proposal to make Deuba the prime minister was signed by 26 lawmakers on Friday, but the number has fallen to 23 on Monday.

Among the UML lawmakers close to Nepal-Khanal faction, Gokarna Bista, Ganesh Pahadi and Pavitra Niraula Kharel have not signed the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the HoR.
