UML Chairman Oli calls SC meeting

Likely to take action against Madhav Nepal, others

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling CPN-UML and Prime Minister KP Oli has called a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee at 4 pm on Monday.

The meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar is likely to take action against the party lawmakers, including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal for “going against party directives.”

The party had earlier sought clarification from 11 lawmakers who had on Friday signed in favor of appointing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister.

UML is also likely to take against all lawmakers signing in the writ petition against Prime Minister Oli’s decision to dissolve the Parliament.

Earlier, a meeting of the party’s SC held on May 22 had decided to seek an explanation from the lawmakers.
