State 1 PP meeting instructs UML lawmakers to withdraw no-confidence motion against CM in a week

BIRATNAGAR: The State-1 Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has instructed the lawmakers who had earlier signed the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai to withdraw their signatures within a week.

A meeting of the PP held for the first time after the Supreme Court revived the CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist Center) gave such an instruction.

Likewise, the meeting has also formed a parliamentary board under the leadership of the PP leader.

“The PP meeting has instructed the UML lawmakers who had signed a no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister to withdraw their signatures within a week,” a UML lawmaker said.

Earlier, lawmakers close to the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction had hinted at the possibility of withdrawing the no-confidence motion.

Chief Minister Rai convened the meeting to discuss the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai and the current political developments.

The ruling CPN-UML has 50 MPs in the State 1 state assembly out of which 16 are close to the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction.
