NC senior leader Poudel says he hasn’t retired from politics and is on ‘sabbat’

KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that he has not retired from politics but is on a ‘sabbat’.

Writing a congratulatory message to the president, office bearers, and central members elected from the party’s 14th General Convention, Poudel said that he has tried to convey the message of unity within the party by following the ideological path of democratic socialism.

Poudel, who did not even participate in the election, stated that he had stayed away from the leadership contest within the party at the General Convention as his friends had advised him so.

“Such isolation is not a retirement from the political journey, it is just a break. My political journey continues and my determination to move forward uninterrupted remains,” Poudel said.

He said that the elected leaders have a responsibility to move forward inclusively and make the party united and strong.

Poudel tried to boost the morale of those who lost the election by saying that one’s personality is truly revealed in sorrow and defeat rather than in happiness.
