Omicron cases climb to 213 in India



NEW DELHI: The number of people infected with new variant Omicron has climbed to 213 in India.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India, the capital city New Delhi records the highest number of Omicron cases with 57 followed by Maharashtra with 54.

Similarly, Telangana has reported 24 new variant cases, Karnataka (19), Rajasthan (18), Kerala (15), Gujarat (14), Jammu Kashmir ((3), Odisha and Uttar Pradesh (2 each), while Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have reported one each Omicron case.

Ninety people infected with Omicron have recovered so far while 123 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and isolation centers, according to the Health Ministry.
