NC to hold convention in mountainous districts before Dashain



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to conduct the district conventions of the party in the mountainous region before Dashain festival.

A meeting of the NC office bearers and former office bearers held at parliamentary party office, Singha Durbar, on Thursday, took the decision to this effect.

The 21 districts of the mountainous region including Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Bajura, Bajhang, Darchula, Dhading, and Gorkha will have conventions before Dashain festival, while the remaining ones will have the convention only after the festival.

After a section led by senior leader Ramchandra Poudel in NC demanded all conventions be held at once, the NC had to change its convention schedule again. The meeting was attended by party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Poudel, Vice-President Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, General Secretaries Dr Sashank Koirala, Purna Bahadur Khadka and others.
