National Assembly passes Appropriation Bill (Budget)

KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) has passed the Appropriation Bill (Budget) 2021 on Thursday.

The bill received with a message from the House of Representatives (HoR) was presented by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma after receiving NA Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina’s nod. The bill had been tabled Tuesday amid obstruction from the main opposition party UML.

The Parliament Secretariat is preparing to forward the bill to HoR today itself. Speaker Agni Sapkota is to certify the Appropriation Bill in today’s HoR and send it to the President for authentication.

Once the bill is passed and ratified, budget holiday will end, opening the way for the government to mobilize state coffers.

The next meeting of the NA will be held at 11 am Friday.
