Leaders formerly close to Madhav Nepal at Balkot to meet KP Oli

Urge Chairman Oli to withdraw action taken against 14 lawmakers



KATHMANDU: UML leaders formerly close to leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have reached Balkot to meet Chairman KP Oli and urge latter to address their concern related to the 10-point agreement prepared by the task force formed to resolve party conflict.

According to sources, leaders including Ashta Laxmi Shakya, Bhim Rawal, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Yogesh Bhattarai, Bhim Acharya, Surendra Pandey, Raghuji Panta reached Chairman Oli’s residence at Balkot on Monday morning.

Despite formerly being very close to leader Nepal, the leaders including Shakya did not accompany Nepal when the latter formed a new party.

They have been urging party Chairman to withdraw the action taken against 14 lawmakers including leader Nepal and also to abide by the 10 point agreement meant to retain party unity.

However, speaking in a program on Monday, Chairman Oli declared that the chapter related to Madhav Kumar Nepal is closed for good now hinting that he is not willing to be flexible to listen to the agenda the disgruntled faction leaders have been raising.

Earlier, 57 leaders including Dr. Rawal, Shakya, Bhattarai, Bhusal had decided to pressurize chairman Oli to withdraw action against leader Nepal on Friday.

It is said that the leaders have reached Balkot for decisive talks.
