Ruling NC holding office-bearers’ meeting today

Likely to tweak schedule for Gen Convention

KATHMANDU: Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is holding an office-bearers’ meeting today.

The meeting has been called at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha at 9 am.

The office-bearers and former office-bearers are taking part in the meeting, according to Krishna Prasad Paudel, the chief secretary of the Central Party Office of the Nepali Congress.

The meeting will discuss the upcoming 14th General Convention as the main agenda today, informed Paudel.

The NC’s 14th General Convention has been scheduled for September 1-4. The ward convention which was slated for July 27 is almost unlikely to be held on time due to the dispute seen in the active membership row.

Despite all odds, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been claiming that the general convention will be held on the stipulated time frame.

The meeting will also dwell on the postponement of the date for the 14th General Convention and the other ward and municipal conventions.

Earlier, an office-bears’ meeting had been held at Baluwatar for the first time after Deuba became the Prime Minister of the country. The NC decided not to hold the meeting at Baluwatar following criticisms from all quarters.
