PM Oli dissolved HoR with an ill intent, argues Senior Advocate Khati

Seeks mandamus to appoint Deuba as PM

KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Khamba Bahadur Khati has said Prime Minister KP Sharm Oli dissolved the House Representatives (HoR) with an ill intent even though Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba legally staked a claim for the post of the Prime Minister.

Delivering his arguments on the writ petition against the dissolution of the HoR on Wednesday, Advocated Khati demanded a mandamus in the name of the President for the appointment of NC President Deuba as the Prime Minister.

“The HoR was dissolved in the middle of night with an ill-intent after seeing the possibility for the formation of a new government,” said Khati, calling for a mandamus to appoint NC President Deuba as the Prime Minister.

Khati questioned at the President Bidya Bhandari’s call for the formation of a new government in line with Article 76 (5) bypassing Article 76 (4) of the Constitution even when only 93 lawmakers were in support of PM Oli when he took a vote of confidence for the first time.
