25 writs against President’s decision under review in Supreme Court

KATHMANDU: As many as 25 writ petitions related to President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s Friday move were under review at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday.

Writs on behalf of both UML Chairman KP Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba have been prepared to register at SC, according to SC administration.

Advocate Krishna Bhandari filed a writ petition alleging that PM Oli has not been appointed PM even after presenting a clear basis for his appointment.

All the writs are against President Bhandari’s decision to invalidate claims of PM Oli and NC President Deuba for govt formation.

Writs favoring PM Oli demand Oli’s appointment to the post of PM and writs in favor of Deuba call to make him the PM. However, none of them have been registered yet as they are under review, as per SC administration.

The opposition alliance which was expected to file their petition Sunday could not make it and have decided to reach the SC Monday.
