Police raid low-quality sanitizer manufacturing company in Lalitpur



KATHMANDU: A team from Metropolitan Crime Division has raided a company producing low-quality sanitizer Sunday. Police carried out the raid at Parsa Nepal Industries Pvt. Ltd. in Imadol of Lalitpur.

A test in the lab of the Department of Drug Administration found that up to 22 percent of the company’s sanitizer contained methanol alcohol, which is harmful to human health, said SP Krishna Pangeni. He added the raid was carried out after reports showed the use of sanitizer would be harmful.

The company’s operator Ashish Pyakurel of Sunsari has been arrested. Police also seized 10 trucks (about 30/40 thousand liters) of sanitizer from the possession of the company.

It was said that the main company was in Birgunj but the company registration record there was not found, said SP Pangeni. He also informed that the official registration of the company is being investigated.
