Will be unfortunate if PM Oli held elections: NC Gen Secretary Koirala

Hopes SC will restore parliament

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that it would be unfortunate if Prime Minister KP Oli held the general elections.

Speaking to reporters at Singha Durbar on Sunday, NC leader Koirala said that his party is optimistic the Supreme Court will give justice.

“We are confident that the court will deliver justice,” Dr. Koirala said, adding, “PM Oli has been doing lots of tricks till date, it will be unfortunate if he holds an election.”

Earlier, NC had presented its claim for the premiership including the signature of 149 lawmakers willing to support NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Growing skeptic to President Deuba’s claim President Bidya Devi Bhandari refused to nominate him as PM and dissolved the House of Representatives at midnight on Friday.

Opposition parties have been accusing that President Bhandari has been favoring PM Oli in words and deeds and have breached the constitutional provisions to prolong the latter’s days in power.
