Opposition parties filing writ petition at SC against House dissolution today



KATHMANDU: The opposition party leaders are set to file a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) against Prime Minister KP Oli’s move to dissolve the parliament.

Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav are currently engaged in legal consultations with lea=gal eagles at the NC’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar.

A writ has already been prepared on behalf of the 149 lawmakers who have signed to make NC President Deuba the prime minister.

Lawyers including Govinda Bandi and Khamba Khati have prepared the draft of the writ petition.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the parliament on Saturday early morning and announced mid-term elections for November 12 and November 15 on the recommendation of the cabinet.
