KATHMANDU: A new political party has been registered at the Election Commission (EC) in the name of Jiwan Rai, a leader close to CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Names as the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified), it has been registered under the leadership of Rai of Sankhuwasabha district, with Pen as its election symbol.

Meanwhile, Binod Khulal of Rautahat is the General Secretary of the newly-registered party.

Election Commission Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that Rai had applied for the registration of the party 32 days ago by submitting all necessary details.
