KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that Prime Minister KP Oli should resign immediately on moral grounds.

Commenting on the situation after the Supreme Court overturned PM Oli’s dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR), Central Committee member of NC, Dr. Koirala said that PM Oli has no moral grounds to be in the post after the Supreme Court’s verdict against him.

“NC had been protesting against the PM Oli’s move hailing it unconstitutional and undemocratic, yet we had said we would abide by the SC verdict,” Dr. Koirala said, “We are happy to see that the SC retained its trust and legacy by not succumbing to any pressure and influence against it.”

He hoped that PM Oli would not try to get a vote of confidence now as he has lost the ground to claim the post immediately after this decision.

Dr. Koirala demanded that PM Oli should resign from the post and even President Bidya Devi Bhandari has to apologize in public for validating the PM’s unconstitutional move.
