Climatology is the study of climate, and how climate changes over time. This is a science that helps people understand the atmospheric conditions causing weather patterns and temperature changes.

It is also the study of the atmosphere and weather patterns. It focuses on recording and analyzing the weather patterns and understanding the atmospheric conditions that cause them, according to nationalgeographic.org.

Sometimes it is confused with meteorology — the study of weather and weather forecasting.

Climatology is particularly focused on the natural and artificial forces that influence long-term weather patterns, the nationalgeographic.org has said.

People who specialize in this sector are called climatologists.

Their work is quite similar to that of the meteorologists. However, they focus on a longer timescale, studying trends for several years.

This study is important as it helps determine future climate expectations. Through the use of latitude, a person can determine the likelihood of hail and snow reaching the surface, it said.

One can also identify the thermal energy from the sun.

The first study of climate can be traced back to ancient Greece. However, the climate science did not emerge until the advent of the industrial age in the 19th century.

The science of climatology increased as scientists were interested in understanding weather patterns.

Climatologists have in recent times focused their research on the changes in the Earth’s climate since the earth has been growing warmer as human industry has expanded.

Climatologists often seek to understand three main aspects of climate, according to the nationalgeographic.org.

The first aspect, according to it, is the weather pattern that govern normal conditions in different regions throughout the world.

Secondly, climate scientists try to understand the relationship between different aspects of weather such as temperature and sunlight, it said.

The third aspect of climate that climatologists investigate is the way that weather changes over time, according to the nationalgeographic.org.

Climatologists also study human causes of climate change.
