EC procuring election materials worth Rs 250 million



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has taken a procurement process for election materials ahead after Prime Minister KP Oli expressed his dissatisfaction over preparations for the mid-term polls.

EC is publishing a tender on Tuesday with a seven-day deadline for election materials worth Rs 250 million to be used at polling booths during the polls slated for April 30 and May 10, media reports said.

EC Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said the procurement process has been taken forward for 21 out of 36 materials required for polls, adding that remaining items will be purchased by concerned district election offices.

PM Oli had openly expressed his displeasure with the constitutional body over polls preparations at the time when the dispute over the authenticity of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is yet to be settled.
