Infrastructure construction at UML’s General Convention site in full swing

A press conference organized by the UML's Publicity Support Committee Chitwan to inform about the preparations for the General Convention in Bharatpur Monday.

KATHMANDU: Construction of necessary infrastructure at the CPN-UML’s 10th National General Convention site is in full swing.

Work is underway to install state-of-the-art equipment at the inaugural site and drones will be mobilized to monitor the overall convention site.

The stage at the inaugural site is being constructed using the latest technology used in Nepal, said UML Central Member and Stage Management Committee Coordinator Binod Shrestha.

At a press conference organized by the Publicity Support Committee Chitwan to inform about the preparations for the General Convention in Bharatpur Monday, Coordinator Shrestha said the platform was being constructed for the convenience of 500,000 citizens.

According to him, since the inaugural session cannot be watched by 500,000 people from one place, it will be broadcast live from different places. Shrestha said that video cameras as well as at least two drone cameras will be used to broadcast the inaugural session live.

According to Shrestha, the inaugural stage is being built rapidly to hand over the platform on November 25. He said that 40 percent of the construction work was over so far.

Similarly, the construction of a hall for closed sessions in Sauraha began from Sunday, he said. “An aluminum structure has been set up in an empty field near Hotel Seven Star in Sauraha, where the closed session will take place,” he said.

At the press conference, Kashinath Adhikari, coordinator of the monitoring committee, said that the work of the general convention was being monitored regularly. He said that the committee also managed the manpower as per the need to speed up the work. He added that preparations for the convention have gained momentum since Sunday. He said that door-to-door programs are also being carried out in the villages to ensure public participation.

Adhikari said that preparations were being made to hold rallies from six different places to participate in the inaugural session on November 26. Likewise, preparations were being made to hold mass rallies from Gaindakot, Aaptari, Bishal Chowk, Central Bus Terminal, Trichowk and Belchowk.

Bijay Subedi, coordinator of the Publicity Support Committee Chitwan, said that the work was forwarded by forming six different committees in the district. Subedi added that all the 98 ward committees, two section committees and all the people’s organizations of the party were mobilized to garner wide public participation in the UML general convention.

CPN-UML Chitwan Chairperson Parbati Rawal said that all the committees formed in the district were diligently moving forward their work. She added that security arrangements including traffic management will be made in collaboration with the security agencies in the district.
