Vaccine against COVID-19 being given to citizens above 18 years of age

KATHMANDU: The government has started giving regular vaccination against COVID-19 for all the citizens above 18 years of age from Monday.

The government initially vaccinated only the target group.

As the vaccines purchased from abroad have started arriving, regular vaccinations have been started for all people above 18 years of age.

Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health, Sameer Kumar Adhikari said. “We urge everyone to get vaccinated from the nearest vaccination center.”

The government has set a target of vaccinating two-thirds of the population by April next year.

Adhikari said that as many as 21.7 million people will be vaccinated by then.

So far, 30 percent of the total population has been given the first dose and 26 percent has received the second dose.

In Kathmandu, regular vaccination centers have been set up at various places to vaccinate everyone above 18 years of age.

Regular vaccinations will be provided at Birendra Sainik Hospital, Nepal Police Hospital, Shaheed Memorial Hospital, Bayodha Hospital, Lotse Bhawan (Gongabu).
