Not VP, my candidacy is for the post of party President: Gopal Man Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gopal Man Shrestha has said that he is preparing to run for the post of president in the 14th general convention.

Leader Shrestha made it clear that he would not back down under any circumstances.

“I am the person who has been the acting president from 2004 to 2006 AD, so I will contest for the presidency, not the vice president. I am in a state of readiness for it. No need to follow any rumors of other types,” Shrestha spoke confidently.

He said that he was attending the convention in his home district Syangja and that he would expedite the meeting after coming to the capital.

Leader Shrestha is currently the head of the organization department of the Nepali Congress. He had executed his duty as a first-ranked Vice-President when Nepali Congress and Nepali Congress Democratic had agreed to work as a united party under the name of Nepali Congress in 2008. NC was under the leadership of Girija Prasad Koirala at the time.
