Foreign ministerial level sideline meeting of SARRC countries canceled

KATHMANDU: The sideline foreign ministerial level meeting of the SARRC countries called by Nepal has been cancelled. Nepal had called a meeting of the ministerial level sideline meeting of the SAARC countries in New York for September 25.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday wrote a letter to the SAARC Secretariat requesting the latter to inform the SAARC countries about the cancellation of the meeting.

The meeting was canceled after the SAARC member states did not give clear response regarding their presence in the meeting to be held in New York.

SAARC member states have become skeptical about the meeting following the political turmoil in Afghanistan, of late.
