KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has distributed nearly one million masks for free of cost to the people in the last four months. The police had launched the mask distribution on April 19 early this year.

A total of 945 thousand masks were distributed to the commoners in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours alone, the police distributed 15,891 masks for free of cost.

The safety materials were distributed under the nationwide campaign ‘Where is your mask?’

The Nepal Police had launched the nationwide awareness campaign to contain the spread of coronavirus at a time when new variant of coronavirus was spreading in the country and abroad. The security agency also raised public awareness on basic health in the face of COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the police collected Rs 46,000 in revenue by fining those violating the lockdown order enforced by the local administration against the COVID-19. Similarly, 1,784 persons were counseled by the police.
