Honorary PhD conferred on Khanal



KATHMANDU: The Universal Tamil University has awarded the honorary degree of PhD to social worker Pradeep Khanal.

Khanal is the Chair of the International Friendship Society. The university, based in Madurai, India, conferred the degree on Khanal on Saturday in recognition of his contribution to international philanthropy.

The 48-year-old Khanal from Jeetpur, Ilam has been actively involved in global friendship, international solidarity, world peace, religious tolerance, and culture and associated sectors, continuously for the last 30 years.

He is the founding president of the International Nepali Students Organisation (2002) as well as the co-founder of the UK-based Buddha International Trust.

Six other personalities from India also were awarded the honorary Doctorate degree, long with Khanal.

Khanal said a person can make a contribution to national and international life by means of social service.
