NC to turn over a new leaf by not holding party meetings in Baluwatar

Office-bearers' meeting called at Budhanilkantha Friday

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has decided not to follow past practices, by not holding party meetings at PM’s official residence in Baluwatar, from now on.

After receiving criticism, from within party and outside, for holding office-bearers’ meeting in Baluwatar last Friday and Saturday, the NC President said office-bearers’ meeting would be held either at the party’s central office in Sanepa or at his residence in Budhanilkantha now onwards.

Accordingly, a meeting of NC office-bearers has been called at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha for Friday.

NC General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka confirmed that party meetings would not be held in Baluwatar and an office-bearers’ meeting was called in Budhanilkantha Friday.

“Parting from the wrong practices of the past, formal meetings of the NC will no longer be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. The decision is being implemented from Friday as the meeting of party office bearers and former office bearers would be held in Budhanilkantha tomorrow,” said NC General Secretary Khadka.

Friday’s office-bearers’ meeting will dwell on NC’s 14th General Convention, which is slated for September 1 to 4. Though the party is to hold ward level conventions from July 27, it has yet to settle disputes related to distribution of active memberships.
