SC hearing writ petitions on cabinet reshuffle

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the writ petitions filed against Prime Minister KP Oli’s decision to reshuffle the cabinet Tuesday.

The apex court has called both plaintiffs and defendants in the court today for discussions.

The case is being heard in a bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana and Justice Kumar Prasad Dhungana.

The government has recently reversed some of the decisions taken by the government. If the Supreme Court (SC) issued an interim order on the writ today, Oli’s decision to reform the cabinet will be invalid.

A bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada had ordered the opposition to submit the reasons for the cabinet reshuffle.

Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi and others had filed a writ petition against the reorganization of the Council of Ministers against the President and the Prime Minister.
