JSP Executive Committee meeting underway

KATHMANDU: The Executive Committee (EC) meeting of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) is underway in Kathmandu.

According to JSP sources, the date of the meeting was scheduled for today on May 18. However, Chairman Mahantha Thakur faction had postponed the meeting Friday.

However, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav’s faction said that it was necessary to hold a meeting to discuss the current political situation in the country.

Earlier, JSP Chairman Yadav and Federal Council Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had attended the meeting of the opposition alliance that had agreed to launch protest against President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Oli’s ‘unconstitutional’ move of dissolving the House of Representatives.

JSP’s Thakur faction has given green signal to PM Oli and is mulling over joining the incumbent government whereas Yadav faction has denounced the dissolution of the HoR as a regressive and unconstitutional move.

Similarly, the executive committee of JSP will be held tomorrow as well.
