KATHMANDU: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a person possessing heroin capsules from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The arrested has been identified as Dawa Lama, 39, of Dhading, and the drug capsules he was carrying weighed nearly one kilogram. NCB arrested him on April 8 and made public Thursday (today).

NCB Chief SSP Dilip Kumar Chaudhary said CT-scan at TIA detected a large amount of drug in Lama’s abdomen and body parts. The arrested managed to accommodate 93 drug capsules weighing about 900 grams in his body. The market value of the seized drug amounts to nearly Rs 90 lakh, added SSP Chaudhary.

The arrested Lama arrived in Kathmandu from Pakistan via Dubai, police said.

Moreover, Lama is not a novice drug carrier. He has previously completed 5 years’ prison sentence on a drug smuggling case.
