UML gives two options to Speaker Sapkota to end stalemate in parliament

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has said Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had two alternatives to end the stalemate in the parliament.

Informing the media about the discussion held at the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) Tuesday, UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said they reminded the Speaker that there were two options before him.

“First, you can publish a notice about the expulsion of lawmakers from the UML. Even though it is late, you must admit your mistake. If you do not want to take this option, then the second alternative is for you to clear the way (meaning the speaker should resign),” the UML told Speaker Sapkota at the meeting, as per Bhattarai.

The main opposition further clarified that the obstruction in parliament won’t be cleared unless the speaker chooses one of the two options.
