Nepali athlete Parki leaves for Germany to compete in Berlin Marathon



KATHMANDU: Long distance athlete Gopi Chandra Parki has been given a farewell today. Parki is competing in the Berlin Marathon to be organized in Germany.

Parki and coach Santosh Shrestha were given a send-off today at a program organized here today by the Nepalgunj Marathon.

On the occasion, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Ramesh Kumar Silwal, President of Creative Hands, the organizer of Nepalgunj Marathon, TS Thakuri, among others extended best wishes for success to Parki.

Both were presented with tracksuits, bag, and T-shirt. The world-famous Berlin Marathon is being held in Berlin, Germany on September 29. Parki and Shrestha are leaving for Berlin by Qatar Airways flight tonight.

Parki is the winner of the latest edition of the Nepalgunj Marathon. He won a gold medal in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) held in Nepal from December 1-10, 2019.

At the send-off program, Parki said he would put in his best in the Berlin Marathon.
