Bagmati CM Shakya says both UML Chair Oli, leader Nepal consented to her being CM

KATHMANDU: Bagmati Chief Minister Asta Laxmi Shakya has said that both UML Chairperson KP Oli and leader Madhav Kumar Nepal consented to her being the chief minister and the change in government in the province.

Speaking at a function in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu, Saturday, Chief Minister Shakya said she had met Oli, Nepal and the outgoing CM Dormani Poudel prior to her appointment and got their consent.

“We briefed UML Chair Oli about the situation in the province and expressed our willingness to move ahead through cooperation,” she recalled telling the UML chair. In response, Oli told her that they were doing good work and should move ahead, according to CM Shakya.

Likewise, the CM also sought suggestions from leader Nepal and obtained his approval.

She was appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province on Wednesday after Poudel resigned as both the leader of the UML parliamentary party and the Chief Minister.
