People’s representative from Dalit community tied to a pole and beaten

Police nab 8 on assault allegation



BARA: A people’s representative from Dalit community in Kalaiya 27, Bara has been beaten brutally.

According to Bara police, Tara Devi Paswan, the Ward Member of Kalaiya 27, has been beaten mercilessly by a gang of local people led by Jogindra Sah.

A group of people led by Sah attacked Paswan alleging her of helping a woman elope rather than discouraging them.

“The assailants tied a female member Paswan to a pole and beat her,” DSP Gautam Mishra, the spokesperson of District Police Office Bara said.

Paswan was rescued by a police team after receiving information about the attack. Police rescued Paswan and admitted her to Kalaiya Hospital for treatment.

DSP Mishra informed that eight people involved in the attack have been arrested.

Police have filed a case against the alleged at the Bara District Court.
