CPN-UML holding Central Committee meeting even today

To assess possible impact of disciplinary action

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML is holding a Central Committee (CC) meeting on Wednesday.

The CC meeting underway since the last two days has endorsed the 10-poing agreement sealed by the dispute resolution task-force.

The first meeting had decided to seek a 24-hour clarification against those lawmakers who gave the vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Even though the meeting decided to take action against them, the clarification letter has not yet been sent to the UML leaders who crossed the floor to vote for Deub.

The action will be taken against them following assessment of possible repercussions that would have on the party, according to a UML leader.

In Tuesday’s meeting, the state coordinators expressed their views on the party’s condition and the possible impact of the action.

Reporting on the situation in their respective provinces at the CC meeting, the state chairpersons said that the confusion within the UML would create further problems for the party to move forward and that it should be resolved soon.

In Tuesday’s meeting, Far Western Province Chairperson Karna Thapa, Karnali Chairperson Gorakh Bogati, Lumbini Chairperson Lila Giri, Gandaki Chairperson Jagat Bishwokarma, Bagmati Chairperson Ananda Pokhrel, Province 2 Chairperson Jwala Kumari Sah and Province 1 Chairperson Devraj Ghimire discussed the organizational status and political situation of their respective provinces.

The Nepal-Khanal faction, which is carrying out parallel party activities, did not participate in the CC meeting.
