Maoist Center to extend CC to 299-member committee

To give priority to those aged below 40

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) is making preparations to add 99 members to its central committee (CC) by giving priority to the people below 40 years in age.

The Maoist Center is busy reforming its organizational structure after the Supreme Court (SC) annulled the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) by reviving the erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).

According to the proposed new party statute, the CC will be 299-member committee.  This new statute shall come into force once it is endorsed by the CC.

“Preparations are underway to extend the 200-member CC to 299,” said Matrika Yadav, a taskforce member, adding, “The priority will be given to those who are below 40 years in age while picking CC members.”

The Maoist had formed a six-member task-force comprising Barsha Man Pun, Janardan Sharma, Devendra Paudel, Matrika Yadav, Giriraj Mani Pokharel and Pampha Bhusal to collect suggestions and recommend the names for the CC members.

In the CC of the dissolved NCP, there were 241 members from UML and 200 from the Maoist Center. There were 200 CC members in the Maoist Center after it was revived. Of them, 18 CC members are in the UML.
