ROME: Italy and Wales have entered the knockout stage of the ongoing Euro Cup 2020.
Italy has made it to the last sixteen, becoming the group ‘A’ winner defeating Wales 1-0 in a match held in Rome on Sunday evening.
Italy’s Matteo Pessina’s score against Wales in the 39th minute became the decisive goal to make the team the group winner.
Wales was rendered to 10-man team after Ethan Ampadu was given a red card in the 65th minute. Since then Wales could not score any goals against Italy.
With this, Italy has notched up nine points from three matches, becoming the group ‘A’ winner.
Despite loss to Italy, Wales has also reached the knockout stage by becoming the first runner up in the group stage match with four points from three matches.
