US foreign aid to Nepal exceeds US $50 million

KATHMANDU: The foreign aid provided by the United States of America (USA) to Nepal has exceeded  US $50 million.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Twitter on Friday morning that foreign aid has been increased.

He said that the US is sending critical equipment deliveries to protect healthcare workers.

“The U.S. is rapidly responding to Nepal’s COVID-19 surge with our first shipment in a series of critical equipment deliveries to protect healthcare workers,”  Secretary of State said in his Twitter message.

According to him, US assistance to Nepal exceeds US $50 million.

“Our assistance to Nepal now exceeds US $50 million and builds on our commitment to helping South Asia combat the pandemic,” he added.

In the meantime, USAID has also announced that USAID is airlifting urgent health supplies to Nepal to help combat COVID-19.
