Nepal Tarun Dal voices impeachment against President Bhandari

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD), the youth organization of the Nepali Congress (NC), has demanded that President Bidya Bhandari should be dismissed through an impeachment.

The youth organization voiced impeachment against President Bhandari after she initiated a process to form a new government.

Issuing a press note on Thursday, NTD’s Chairman Jitjung Basnet lashed out at President Bhandari for her latest move saying that she merely worked as a henchman to the Prime Minister rather than serving as the custodian of the Nepali citizens and the Constitution, hence, she should be dismissed from the post through an impeachment.

“President Bidya Bhandari has been working as merely a helper to the Prime Minister rather than becoming a savior of the citizens and the Constitution of the country. Hence, she should be impeached,” said Basnet in the press note.

The NTD has concluded that the President’s call to form a new government pursuant to Article 76 (5) at a time when Prime Minister’s KP Sharma Oli has not tendered resignation nor has he secured the vote of confidence is unconstitutional.
