KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML party has formed a General Convention Organizing Committee to hold its 10th general convention on November 18-22 in Kathmandu.

The ruling party formed a 264-member for the convention comprising 241 central committee members of the UML and 23 of those who joined the UML deserting the CPN (Maoist Center).

A meeting of the party held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Saturday decided to transform the current Central Committee into the General Convention Organizing Committee, according to Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali.

Party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Oli will be the chairman of the Committee and Ishwar Pokharel will be the General Secretary, Gyawali added.

The task force has been entrusted to prepare a proposal within 10 days along with the division of labor.

Likewise, all the seven state committees have been entrusted to hold the convention of all the district committees, according to Gyawali.
