Former PM Dr. Bhattarai says he is “ashamed” for going abroad for treatment



KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Federal Council Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that he was ashamed for going abroad for treatment.

Expressing his feelings on social media after reaching Delhi for treatment, former PM Dr. Bhattarai shared that he is sad to fly abroad for treatment as the treatment home could not diagnose whether the tumor in his stomach is normal or fatal.

“I am very embarrassed and sad while sitting in the guest room of Nepali Embassy in Delhi that in the 21st century, I am abroad, unable to diagnose whether a tumor growing in my body is normal or fatal,” he has written on his social media wall.

He has wondered at the fate of the ordinary citizens struggling against ailment in a remote part of the country and expressed further sadness at the pathetic situation of the services home.

According to his secretariat, Bhattarai had left for Delhi at 11:30 am via Nepal Airlines.

He had been undergoing medical examination and treatment of stomach problems at Nidan Hospital in Kathmandu for a long time.

According to Bhattarai’s press advisor Bishwadeep Pandey, he will be treated at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in New Delhi as per the doctor’s advice and recommendation on suspicion of having a neuroendocrine tumor.

Bhattarai is accompanied by his spouse Hisila Yami and Press Advisor Pandey.

While staying in Delhi for treatment, Bhattarai is living at the Nepali Embassy in Delhi.
