No-confidence motion against Province 1 CM Rai likely to be tabled Sunday

BIRATNAGAR: A no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai is likely to tabled in the Province 1 Assembly on Sunday.

The motion against Chief Minister Rai will be tabled today, the Secretariat has said in a notice.

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Rai had asked Speaker Pradip Bhandari to postpone Sunday’s meeting of the Province Assembly by pasting a notice.

However, the Speaker published the agenda rejecting CM Rai’s proposal.

The third meeting of the winter session of the State Assembly had been called for 2 pm Sunday. The meeting, however, has yet to begin.

The agenda for Sunday’s meeting is to table a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai.

A discussion was held between CM Rai and Speaker Bhandari at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday morning.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Rai had urged Speaker Bhandari not to take the no-confidence motion forward in the current situation.

Speaker Bhandari, however, said that the meeting should not be postponed as the agenda to table the no-confidence motion was already set.
